Springdale GC | Yellow Ball | Miller & Moore, Facilitators
2026 MAYOR’S YELLOW BALL CHALLENGE
SPRINGDALE GC BIRMINGHAM, MI 9-23-26
ROLLING IN GOLF CLUB
RULES OF PLAY
1. The nine holes at Springdale will be played twice. It will be a shotgun start, so you play 18 holes beginning with your starting hole.
2. Tee shots will be played from the BLUE tees, except for members of the “70+ AND 18+” club who can play from the WHITE tees.
3. On each hole, one team member will be the Yellow Ball player and the remaining team members will play a scramble. There is NO minimum number of tee shots per player in the Scramble.
4. There isn’t a range at Springdale. So, ONLY on the first hole that you play, the Yellow Ball player gets a “Choosie” Mulligan.
5. Each team member must be the Yellow Ball player on a minimum of 3 holes.
6. Closest to the pin will be on all three Par 3’s and is for 18 holes, not a separate contest for each 9.
7. The score for the Yellow Ball player will be his NET score. The maximum NET score on a hole for the Yellow Ball player is double bogey. 100% handicap will be used.
8. The team score for each hole will be the Scramble score PLUS the net score for the Yellow Ball player.
9. The total of the scores for the 18 holes will be the team score for the event.
10. For each Yellow Ball you turn in after the round the team score will be reduced by 10 strokes.
11. If you lose both Yellow Balls continue to play following the same format with a substitute ball. Your team will not receive the 10 point per returned ball team score reduction. BUT, you remain eligible for Team Score, Closest To The Pin and Skins.
12. The Yellow Ball is played as it lies, as is the chosen Scramble ball. Drop other Scramble balls within one club length no nearer the hole, and in the same type of grass.
13. If you have a threesome, the Yellow Ball process is the same. One of the two scramble players can take an extra shot if desired.
14. SEARCHING FOR A LOST BALL IS LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES, USGA RULE. NO CLIMBING FENCES.
"Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening, and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented." ..Arnold Palmer
